Semana Santa. WWJD ?

-
Semana Santa in Vallarta is Mardi Gras redux. There is nothing "holy" or solemn or remotely dignified about Easter in Vallarta. And not just here either. I've been in other Mexican cities during religious holidays (Xmas, Three King's Day, Passover, Saint someone or other) and the people celebrate wilder than they do on, say, Cinco de Mayo; and behave more buckwild raunchy than at a stag party.
Sin boldly, not flagrantly
It coincides with Spring Break where, yes, everyone cuts loose, as annually pimped out by MTV, but Americans have enough shame and marketing panache  to call it 'Spring Break'. Could you imagine any place seriously promoting un-Christian nastiness for a decidedly Christian weekend:

Get your Easter freak on!
2x1 tequila shots & beer bong contest.
Hot gogo dancers where the party never stops!

Decadence can be delicious but I draw the line at playing church.
And don't give me that "spiritual" bullshit. There's nothing spiritual about doping up so you can go on the prowl or dick down as many strangers as possible. Defiling our bodily temples in the guise of rejoicing unto the Lord. Talk about gall and short-attention span! Sin boldly, not flagrantly. What would Jesus do? The blessed bastard certainly wouldn't be celebrating Semana Santa (in Pto. Vallarta)!

JOURNAL: SEPTEMBER 23, 2009

-

Sept 23
post scriptum: almost forgot to record my second assault by supposedly customs officers which means my identification was requested twice within twenty-four hours by these racist pigs. Only one of the two spoke and he balked upon being handed a US passport, How can you complain when the US always wants papers to get in? Not everyday! Since he claimed to be on the alert for Amsterdam marijuana I told him to use drug sniffing dogs. Don't explain me my job, said the bitch pig and walked away.

Interesting signs in S.F.

-
Aside from the vexing flight the entry into San Francisco was one of the most painless ones I've ever had coming from abroad. Customs inspectors are somewhat suspicious upon seeing (black?)American individuals as opposed to obnoxious American families returning from vacation. Because as every common Yank knows, there's really no cause to have a passport.
San Francisco's downtown is infected by some of the ugliest, scuzziest, sleaziest, nastiest, lost, criminal and drug addled and mentally fucked desperate souls in the nation. Scary place
San Francisco is one of those cities which cures any man of his boredom. There's so much and so many diverse things to do from free to cheap to luxurious. And it is a pretty city. Except for downtown. San Francisco's downtown is dominated--infected!--by some of the ugliest, scuzziest, sleaziest, nastiest, lost, criminal and drug addled and mentally fucked desperate souls in the nation. Scary place. Like Los Angeles' but at least L.A.'s downtrodden are more or less concentrated on Skid Row.

Here are some interesting things I saw downtown:

what a positively cheeky sign for a positively positive sounding business: Good Hotel "Smile - it increases your face value"

Just how 'tolerant' and open-minded are the locals? No skinny bitches swirling on poles or jiggling in wet T-shirts like in plastic Miami Beach (and everywhere else skinny bitches with titties are appreciated). No sir, here they want big, fat mama-mamas with more junk in the trunk and fat folds than any one man can handle. Touch the magic?

"Big & beautiful amateur contest. The more you weigh the more we pay! www.msclive.com. $500 1st Place. $250 2d Place. $100 3d Place"
It's an art gallery! It's a concert hall! No, ye of little imagination: It's the San Francisco Federal Bldg!
Bureaucracy never looked so...gleaming or hip. Speaking of hip....

And here's one helluva petition:
"Whereby on this day we able minded creators do hereby tell you, the Establishment: FUCK YOU IN THE MOUTH. WE'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR BULLSHIT. Signed, Beings of Beauty" Oh those beatniks!

Another head found in Mexico

-
GOOD NEWS: Today, a day after Sec. Clinton and other top U.S. officials visited Mexico City to address the problems of drugs and drug-related violence, Mexican authorities arrested Jose Medina (aka Don Pepe). He's also called the King of Heroin...and at just thirty-six years old the king is now in the dungeon!

BAD NEWS: Someone else lost his head in the drug violence--literally. A decapitated man was lying in a public parking lot in Ciudad Juarez, same city where the three folks associated with the U.S. Consulate were killed several days ago, with his head in a bag nearby.

Care to Spring Break in Mexico ?

-
If you're thinking of tearing it up south of the border this Spring Break, be careful you don't lose your head. Macho drug cartels killed over two dozen people last week in Acapulco plus another three associated with the American Consulate in a city that borders with Texas---in one day! Two weeks before that, thirteen unluckies in Oaxaca were forced out of this world.

Things are fine here in Puerto Vallarta; but if I weren't here already I'd be too sensible to trip down to Mexico with such massive killings making recent headlines.

But if you do come down, Senor Frog's is waiting for you!!

Mexican gunmen kill 13 people (Oaxaca)

-
Hot damn! maybe I shant travel to Oaxaca after all.
I know this much: people who deal in drug cartels are barbaric, evil, corrupt sonsofbitches
Was planning to go there after next month but now I read that gun slinging bad guys just massacred thirteen people in the picturesque state, which lies in southern Mexico. Unlike northern states along the border Oaxaca is not known to be a hotbed of violence but, unbeknownst to me before today, it is a drug trafficking route. And I know this much already: people who deal in drug cartels are barbaric, evil, corrupt sonsofbitches. The lust for body counts is there, not that anyone would admit it. The natives are restless for bloodshed.

Sixty-nine murders in one day (Mexico)

-
I return to Mexico so often because I like the easy living and weather and language, but its charming primitiveness is fast on its way to returning to barbarism. Already a Third World country known for its poverty, cheap labor, drugs and soccer, Mexico's traditions are itching to re-light a powder keg that will have blood running in the streets and heads poached on sticks...or used by twisted beaners as soccer balls.
Two weeks into 2010 and drug cartels have made their evil intent clear: We crazy sonsofbitches are here to kill all who interfere. Kill or be killed

No drug trafficking mayhem is evident here in beautiful, touristy, homophilic Puerto Vallarta; but I probably wont be returning next winter.

Two weeks into 2010 and drug cartels have made their evil intent clear: We crazy sonsofbitches are here to kill all who interfere. Kill or be killed. Law of the Jungle has no place in any civilized country or society. Today, sixty-nine---sixty-nine!---murders blotted pig scanners. Sixty-nine murders in one day. Lest you mistake them for simple gun slinging desperados the henchmen are fond of torture and chopping up bodies and discarding the remains in public as gruesome calling cards. Destruction is not removed from creativity. One victim, a word to be applied loosely as nearly all the unfortunates tend to have some connection to the cartels, was a former pig whose face was removed and stitched on to a soccer ball. They do love soccer!

Poverty is NOT at the root of this diabolical terror. Nor is illiteracy. Loads of places have poor and stupid and unhappy people but they don't reek havoc and terrorism on the country because they're, what?, without. Mexicans like to brag about being, among other things, the happiest people in the world. Some rag like Reader's Digest, which a few years back also purported NYC was the most hospitable American city, gave them such an advancement and they cling to it. With "happiness" like this who needs anger or madness?

Certainly not tourists.

Amsterdam typified by marijuana

Amsterdam's tourism stays afloat due to, and only due to, the legality of marijuana. Dutch Masters, Dutch Shmasters. Tourists aren't going to give a damn about the contributions and historicity of Van Gogh or Rembrandt or legal prostitution so long as unrestrained dope smoking remains legal.

Unfortunately this is the hallmark of Amsterdam. Why, even the infamous Red Light District has taken a back seat to Internet porn as virtual sluts are more accessible---and free. Booyah!

The Bulldog Hotel (Amsterdam)

The Bulldog Hotel bills itself as a 5-star hostel and it is certainly a frilly outfit. Staff wear uniform T-shirts bearing the company logo; surveillance cameras are everywhere; a doorman stands guard in the evenings; decor bespeaks hotel, not youth hostel; and here you'll find no cheap, squeaky beds or slovenly behaviour on premises (e.g., shouting in the halls or vomiting).

There's a rooftop terrace for the smoking of prohibited tobacco (!!), an upscale lounge and bar on the first floor with dim lighting and plenty of tables and seating. By lunch time the swank elegance is fumigated by stoners and rebels without clues. The smoke is so thick you can actually see the haze lingering in the air with the naked eye. In the lounge are computer terminals that cost while wi-fi access is FREE. One other great feature is the FREE luggage storage.

Aside from my general gripe with Amsterdam's Red Light District---too, too many young tourists forcing themselves to get high non-stop and a perpetual London fog of cannabis smoke---the Bulldog is a great stay. Plus, if you're mad on reefer you will be too stoned to be bothered by the cooler-than-thou hang-up of the establishment.

I have a hard time believing this bullshit policy sticks for girls, especially white girls

To begin, a doorman/bouncer? Nigga please. It's a hostel, not an exclusive nightclub. Nothing dangerously violent is going to occur here that wouldn't go down at any other lodging; even less so because, after all, pot heads are a harmless, peace & love mongering lot, right? And as everyone knows bouncers are unduly self-important, id est antagonistic. The doormen practically bark, Can I help you, before permitting you passage.
Reception are slightly better. Problem is they are thick in the head and too cool to be bothered with anything beyond checking guests in or out of rooms. This 5-star badass place is above taking phone messages for guests. Hello! My international caller was told that it was not Front Desk's job to play secretary or deliver messages to lodgers. Huh?!
Yes, in fact, that is a responsibility of Front Desk. Talk about customer service! I have a hard time believing this bullshit policy sticks for girls, especially white girls. The Bulldog Hotel achieves high marks on ratty customer service. Really, a smile and cooperation go a long way. So give a dawg a bone and don't playa hate....
