The grass is always greener

Last weekend a long-distance Finnish friend visited me here in Puerto Vallarta. We'd met years ago in Barcelona and had kept in touch via email. She dug Vallarta very much and couldn't help but remark more than once, Why would you want to leave all of this in Mexico and go to Europe?! The Sun! the beach! the palm trees!

This reminded me of a friend from Texas who has been living abroad for a few years now. We've never met but have remained consistent pen pals for close to five years. He digs Europe very much and has more than once wondered, Why would you want to leave Europe and keep going back to Mexico?! Opportunities! France! all the culture is here!

Is the grass not always greener on the other side....
