   Played golf! After all these years--five maybe?--my game was is not so gone. Did not expect much and so began with a good frame of mind. My first hole put that optimism to the test; but then I parred the very next hole (3) and the following one and wound up with a pleasant, wonderful 9-hole round in the Alps amongst the charming Bavarianesque surroundings; plus the weather was bright and sunny and calm. Despite last night's farce of travel and zero sleep I could not put off this opportunity to try such a beautiful course.
